Ladybug

Ladybug Did you know there are over 5,000 different species of ladybugs? In fact, they come in many different colors and patterns. The one I'm most familiar with and most others reading this will also be is the shiny red-bodied, seven-spotted type living here in North America.  Aside from their beauty, they serve an amazing function in our ecosystem as they eat aphids and other pests for our farmers. In fact, the average ladybug will eat up to 5,000 insects during its lifespan. Farmers love ladybugs due to their predatory nature which helps with crop damage and the reduction of the need for pesticides. Now to the defense of it all. Our type of ladybug is either red or orange and has three spots on each side and one down the middle. I personally find them beautiful but what they are actually trying to convey to anything looking at it is "If you eat me you'll be sorry, I taste horrible."
